Meet Anthony Elder. One of our Furniture Sales Managers

Anthony Elder

What aspect of working at Staples Business Advantage (SBA) most appealed to you when you were looking for employment?

What I really valued was the opportunity for growth within the company to help achieve my personal career goals. I have been with the company for 15 years now and I have been successful in growing within the company in multiple positions.

What makes you feel that the work you do at SBA contributes to the company’s overall success?

We have a true “TEAM” at SBA. Whether it’s a successful customer experience or helping an associate develop and achieve their goals, I really feel like I’m part of SBA’s overall success, as we did it together. This is very rewarding to me personally.

What skills are you bringing to your current role that you hadn’t thought you would use in your role (until now)?

I would say I am really utilizing the skills of internal negotiations. It is so important that our sales teams are working with our internal teams to find a win/win solution for all that are involved.

In what ways does SBA inspire you to go above and beyond the call of duty?

It’s the People! Since we have such a strong team, everyone is always willing to step-up when we need help and that really drives and inspires me to go above and beyond.

How does your work impact SBA Customers?

As a Furniture Sales Manager, my role is to ensure we as a team meet our customers visions and achieve their goals for any furniture project. Whether it’s educating our customers about the furniture industry or trends, helping them ask the difficult questions internally about change management or meeting timelines or budgets. Once we understand our customers needs, we can help our customers achieve a positive experience and a successful project. This is a very rewarding process.

Why should someone consider joining SBA?

SBA is great company to work for as we have a great culture that is fostered by our leadership team, and we live it every day. SBA offers the opportunity for growth, whether its training for your existing role or to advance your career with new opportunities within the company. Overall, I would recommend SBA as a great company to work for.

Meet Abby Velauthar. One of our Line Of Business Specialists.

What aspect of working at Staples Business Advantage (SBA) most appealed to you when you were looking for employment?

I’ve worked in both B2B and B2C focused organizations, predominantly in a B2C retail marketing setting. This contributed to my wanting to take on the challenge of reaching customers in a B2B space. I was looking to utilize my learnings in my past marketing roles to grow and develop the FS/Breakroom Category. When looking to take up new challenges in a B2B setting, Staples Business Advantage stood out as a highly recognizable company with a good reputation. Naturally it was a good next step in my career.

What makes you feel that the work you do at SBA contributes to the company’s overall success?

As a Marketing Line of Business Specialist for the Facility, Breakroom and Technology categories, I continually collaborate with key stakeholders in Sales, Merchandising and Operations. By working with cross functional teams I’m able to consult with business partners to understand business objectives and effectively create proactive marketing/communication plans to support projects. Ensuring that our objectives are aligned for key product launches, campaigns and initiatives. In this role I’m able to manage projects end to end, bringing ideas through to fruition.

What skills are you bringing to your current role that you hadn’t thought you would use in your role (until now)?

This role allows me to utilize my creativity. I’m able to leverage learnings from campaigns that I’ve run in the past and bring a fresh perspective to how we tackle marketing campaigns at SBA.

In what ways does SBA inspire you to go above and beyond the call of duty?

The greatest asset we have is the people we work with. They are such an inspiring bunch that it really does make a difference in how you approach work. Everyone has a lot of fun working together, constantly testing and learning new things. The team at SBA is supportive and works together to put in work and see positive returns.

How does your work impact SBA Customers?

As a marketing specialist we take customer feedback and make suggested changes to improve customer experience on all our customer touchpoints. Whether it be through offering customers promotions that they love or giving them free products/samples for participating in a contest/giveaway. We constantly have customers asking for more interactive content, promotions and offers. Keeping customers happy and engaged means that we are doing our jobs.

Why should someone consider joining SBA?

In addition to the wonderful people that work at Staples Business Advantage, our management is supportive of employees’ ability to learn and develop. They encourage peer mentorship and offer mentorship programs to learn more about prospective roles within the organization. The company encourages work-life-balance and provides employees with the flexibility to work from home.
